Iveco Daily VII Force Forged Alloy Wheel Matte Black
The Force20 Beadlock wheel features a two-piece construction and is available either as the delta Force20 Monoblock Casted, manufactured using a low-pressure casting process, or as the forged delta Force20 Forged wheel.
The main difference between the two models lies in the load capacity they are designed for: the forged Beadlock wheel has been tested for a wheel load of 2,500 kg, while the Beadlock Casted is designed for a load capacity of 1,800 kg. Both wheels are designed so that the tires can be mounted with or without a spacer ring.
What is Beadlock technology?
This is a mechanical system that firmly connects the tire to the wheel. With a conventional wheel design, the tire is pressed against the wheel bead by the inflation pressure and held in place. If the air pressure drops, the tire loses its grip and may eventually slip completely off the wheel. This can happen, for example, due to a puncture or when tire pressure is deliberately reduced for off-road use to increase tire flex and improve traction on sand, snow or mud. To prevent this dangerous situation for both vehicle and driver, delta4x4 Beadlock technology uses a spacer ring during installation to press the tire against the wheel flange. This keeps the tire firmly connected to the wheel at all times – with or without air pressure.
Even under extremely hard acceleration or braking, the friction between the wheel and tire may not be sufficient, allowing the two components to rotate relative to each other. The Beadlock system also prevents this by mechanically locking the tire in place (“lock” in English). The word “bead” refers to the wheel bead area. Beadlock therefore describes a system in which the tire is mechanically secured to the wheel.
Where are Beadlock wheels used?
This technology originally comes from the military sector, where operational vehicles must remain mobile even after a complete loss of tire pressure. Military requirements can include the ability to continue driving for short periods at speeds of up to 80 km/h and for distances of up to 100 kilometers. Beadlock technology with a spacer ring and run-flat element makes this possible.
Beadlock wheels are now increasingly used in civilian applications – for example, on armored vehicles, expedition vehicles and long-distance rally vehicles. The key advantage is that tire pressure can be reduced to a minimum without the tire coming off the wheel.
