Ineos Grenadier Force Casted Alloy Wheel (Cast) Matte Black
The Force20 Beadlock wheel features a two-piece design and is available either as the delta Force20 Monoblock Casted, manufactured using a low-pressure casting process, or as the forged delta Force20 Forged wheel.
The main difference between the two models lies in the load capacity for which they are designed: the forged Beadlock wheel is tested for a wheel load of 2,500 kg, while the Beadlock Casted version is designed for a load capacity of 1,800 kg. Both wheels are designed so that the tires can be mounted with or without a spreader ring.
What is behind Beadlock technology?
This is a mechanical system that securely connects the tire to the wheel: On a conventional wheel, the tire is pressed against the wheel bead by the inflation pressure and held in place. If the air pressure drops, the tire loses its grip and may eventually slip completely off the wheel. This can happen, for example, if the tire is punctured or if the tire pressure is intentionally reduced for off-road use to increase tire flex and improve traction on sand, snow or mud.
To prevent this dangerous situation for both the vehicle and driver, delta4x4 Beadlock technology uses a spreader ring during installation to press the tire against the wheel flange. This ensures that the tire remains securely connected to the wheel at all times – whether inflated or not.
During extremely hard acceleration or braking, the frictional forces between the wheel and tire may also be insufficient, causing the two components to rotate relative to each other. The Beadlock system also prevents this by mechanically securing (“locking”) the tire. The word “bead” refers to the wheel bead area. Beadlock therefore describes a system in which the tire is mechanically secured to the wheel.
Where are Beadlock wheels used?
This technology originally comes from the military sector, where operational vehicles are required to remain mobile even after a complete loss of tire pressure. Armed forces require their vehicles to be capable of temporarily continuing at speeds of up to 80 km/h for distances of up to 100 kilometers. Beadlock technology with a spreader ring and a run-flat element makes this possible.
Beadlock wheels are now increasingly used in civilian applications – for example, on armored vehicles and increasingly on expedition vehicles and in long-distance rallies. One key advantage is that tire pressure can be reduced to a minimum without the tire coming off the wheel.
